{"id":2284,"date":"2011-02-09T15:30:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-09T07:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taipeibookfair.org\/en\/?post_type=chronicles_posts&#038;p=2284"},"modified":"2023-03-30T15:50:22","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T07:50:22","slug":"2011-taipei-international-book-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"chronicles_posts","link":"https:\/\/taipeibookfair.org\/en\/chronicles_posts\/2011-taipei-international-book-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"2011 Taipei International Book Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>TiBE 2011 Guest of Honor: Bhutan<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2011 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) wrapped up with more than 450 writers worldwide, 800 publishers from 58 countries, and 590,000 visitors attending the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And this year TiBE highlight the Himalayan kingdom Bhutan as the Guest of Honor country, promoting the theme of &#8220;happiness.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bhutan pavilion presented more than 300 books, including three handwritten manuscripts &#8211; a biography of the second Buddha Guru Rinpoche, the Buddhist classic &#8220;The Eight Thousand Verses of Transcendental Wisdom&#8221; from the 12th century, and a letter written by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the unifier of Bhutan; This was the first time these historical manuscripts were presented abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the TiBE 2011, more than 40 public reading sessions were held. It was the first time in its 19-year history that TiBE has staged such an event. \u201cPublic reading became a tradition following Germany\u2019s Leipzig and Japan\u2019s Fukuoka book fairs.
