The 2026 Seoul International Book Fair will take place from June 24 to June 28. For this year’s edition, the Taipei Book Fair Foundation has developed an all-new Taiwan Sensibility Pavilion, continuing its efforts to promote Taiwanese publishing, showcase creative talent internationally, and strengthen global rights exchange.

In 2025, Taiwan made its debut as the Guest of Honor at the Seoul International Book Fair, introducing Korean readers to a vision of Taiwan beyond familiar tourism imagery through the theme “Taiwan Sensibility (臺灣感性/대만감성).” In 2026, the Foundation extends this established brand identity with a new focus on “Women’s Emotions,” inviting Korean readers into a deeper and more intimate dialogue.

Although shaped by different historical and social contexts, women in both Taiwan and Korea have experienced the pressures imposed by patriarchal systems, while each society has developed its own ways of responding, resisting, and moving forward. At the Seoul International Book Fair—where female readership represents a significant majority—“Women’s Emotions” is not simply an exhibition theme, but a shared point of resonance between the two societies.

The pavilion’s key visual has been specially created by illustrator Lin Lian En, whose delicate and multilayered artistic style captures the complexity and subtlety of women’s emotional experiences. In collaboration with Openbook, a long-standing observer of Taiwan’s publishing landscape, the exhibition presents 64 selected titles under the theme of “Women’s Emotions.” Together, these works explore the diverse dimensions of women’s lives in Taiwanese publishing, including lived experiences, emotional memory, bodily autonomy, family relationships, social pressures, and creative expression. The collection is further organized into eight emotional categories, guiding readers through multiple pathways of engagement.

Beyond the curated book selection, the exhibition also features 24 Taiwan locations connected to the theme of women’s emotions, while inviting Korean visitors to contribute places in Korea that resonate with their own emotional experiences. In this way, the exhibition becomes not only an introduction of Taiwan to Korea, but also an opportunity for Taiwanese and Korean readers to exchange their own emotional geographies. Visitors may also collect specially designed notebooks and select cards representing the emotions that resonate most closely with them.

The pavilion will additionally feature 100 carefully selected Taiwanese zines, curated in collaboration with Nan Hai ART, Maison Temps-Rêves, and Mangasick, alongside publications from eight Taiwanese publishers and institutions, including Academia Sinica, Chang-Tang Intl, Heryin Books, Hsin Yi Publication, Indie Publishers Association of Taiwan, Locus Publishing, National Taiwan University Press, and PsyGarden Publishing Company. Through thematic book selections, zine exhibitions, dedicated publisher showcases, and rights exchange activities, the pavilion presents a contemporary portrait of Taiwan’s publishing industry and the many ways creators respond to issues of society, the body, and emotional experience.

During the Seoul International Book Fair, the Taipei Book Fair Foundation will host two flagship talks:

  Taiwanese writer Li Ang and filmmaker Hui Chen Huang in conversation, moderated by Korean publisher Roh Yuda (Oomzic Publisher co-CEO).

  Evany Chou, Editor-in-Chief of Openbook, in conversation with Lee Younghee, Head of the International News department at Korea’s JoongAng Ilbo, moderated by Rex How, Chairman of the Taipei Book Fair Foundation.

This year, activities featuring Taiwanese authors will also extend beyond the book fair venue itself, reaching into the Seoul Metropolitan Library. Following the exhibition, the showcased books will be donated to the library’s permanent collection, ensuring that the project’s impact extends beyond the fair itself and continues accompanying Korean readers in their everyday reading lives.“Women’s Emotions” is not a theme that belongs only to Taiwan, nor is it a subject that belongs exclusively to women. Echoing this year’s Seoul International Book Fair theme, “Homo Duduri,” the Taipei Book Fair Foundation presents Women’s Emotions as an open question—an invitation for readers from different cultures to discover, through reading, the places where they may truly meet one another.
